The event was organized under the directove of the Regional Office, Chaklala, and was headed under the supervision of the principal F.G. Sir Syed College, Shah Imad Ud Din Hashmi who escorted the guest speaker, Brig. (Retd.) Muhammad Afzal Khan to the auditorium. The event brought together students and faculty for an engaging session on Pakistan’s security landscape and the vital role of youth in nation-building.
Associate Professor Imran Arif served as the stage secretary, skillfully guiding the proceedings.
The guest speaker for the session Brigadier (Retd.) Mohammad Afzal Khan(A representative of ISPR), a seasoned expert in strategic affairs with 43 years of distinguished military service, provided deep insights into Pakistan’s historical and contemporary security challenges.
He began with a historical overview of Pakistan’s creation, critiquing the negative role of the Indian National Congress and RSS, while highlighting the visionary efforts of Sir Syed Ahmed Khan. The unfair distribution of assets post-partition and territorial disputes involving Kashmir, Hyderabad, and Junagadh were identified as foundational causes of Pakistan’s strained relations with India.
Brig. Afzal also discussed regional dynamics, including complex ties with Afghanistan stemming from the Durand Line issue and the refugee influx during the Afghan War. In contrast, he emphasized Pakistan’s stable and strategic relations with Iran and China, particularly noting the significance of CPEC.
Transitioning into modern security concerns, the speaker addressed the rise of information warfare, focusing on misinformation, disinformation, and malinformation. He broke down the tactics of 5th generation warfare, including extremism, intolerance, hero worship, and propaganda driven by hostile foreign lobbies. He condemned disinformation campaigns against Pakistan’s military and the promotion of militant groups like the TTP.
To empower the youth, Brig. Afzal urged students to:
– Be critical of information they consume.
– Check the authenticity and source authority.
– Create and share accurate content responsibly on social media.
A lively Q&A session followed, where students’ queries were answered thoroughly and thoughtfully by the speaker.
Professor Imran Arif concluded the event with closing remarks, reminding students of their prime responsibility to focus on their personal development and contribute positively to the nation’s progress.
